Galatians 1:13-24
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
What does Paul’s personal story in Galatians 1:13-24 demonstrate about the gospel?
What does Paul tell us about his life before he met Jesus (Gal 1:13-14, Phil 3:5-7, Acts 8:1-3; 9:1-2, and 26:4-5)? Who was he living for (Gal 1:10)?
What does Paul tell us about how he was saved (Gal 1:15-16)? Was it because Paul was pleasing to God or because God was pleased to do so? Why is that an important distinction to make? Who gets the credit and glory?
What does Paul tell us about his life after he met Jesus (Gal 17-24)? Who is he living for (Gal 1:10, Rom 15:18)? How does the good news of grace free us from pride and guilt?
What’s your “I used to be…but now, by God’s grace, I am” story? If you haven’t done so, take a few minutes this week to write down your faith story. How would you summarize it into a sentence like Galatians 1:23?
Why is Galatians 1:24 so encouraging, and why is the order of the sentence so important?
Galatians 1:24 can be translated “They glorified God in me.” In contrast to his former life, who is Paul most proud of now, and who receives all the glory and praise? Why is that such a beautiful and powerful testimony?
How can you live so that others glorify God in you?
