Galatians 6:1-5
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
1. {REMINDER} What was your main takeaway from Sunday?
2. {ECCLESIOLOGY} How does this passage influence your view of church
discipline and restoration?
3. {BIBLICAL THEOLOGY} What are the similarities and differences between Jesus’
teaching in Matthew 18:15-20 and Paul’s teaching here in Galatians 6:1-5?
4. {RELATIONAL} Have you ever had a conversation with a brother or sister about
their walk (being caught in transgression) with a desire to restore them? How
did it go? How can we turn our hearts and actions to mending/restoring
instead of judging and shaming? (conviction vs condemnation in Kyle’s words)
5. {COMMUNITY and BURDENS} How do we bear one another’s burdens from sin?
How is the burden-bearing of this passage different from the way we usually
talk about “bearing burdens?”
- What does this type of burden-bearing require of us—both as the
burdened and the caring brother/sister?
6. {INTERPRET} Explain the difference between verse 2 and verse 5. (burdens vs
loads, bearing with vs bearing for)
7. {GOSPEL} Where is the hope of the Gospel in light of all this burden-bearing?
(see Matthew 11:28-30 for help)
