Galatians 2:17-21

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

What in this passage do you still have questions about?

- What do you see clearly from this passage after our time there Sunday morning?

How could this passage and message of justification by faith be misconstrued?

What is the most memorable kind gesture you have received? How did it make you feel? Did you have a sense that you should or could repay it?

- Do you feel differently or similar with God’s grace in Christ?

Is it possible to obey the Law (Torah) and still commit injustice? What are some examples from scripture?

- What does this tell us about the Law?

- Is Jesus’ moral bar for his Kingdom higher or lower than the Law?

What are your thoughts on this quote from John Stott:

- “...there are large numbers of people who, like the Judaizers, are making these

very mistakes. They are seeking to commend themselves to God by their own

works. They think it noble to try to win their way to God and to heaven. But it is

not noble; it is dreadfully ignoble. For, in effect, it is to deny both the nature of

God and the mission of Christ. It is to refuse to let God be gracious. It is to tell Christ

that He need not have bothered to die. For both the grace of God and the death

of Christ become redundant, if we are masters of our own destiny and can save

ourselves.”

Why would the Judaizers view Paul as depicting Jesus as a “servant of sin?” (v.17)

How do you think or feel the reality of “Christ lives in me” is true for you today as

it was for Paul nearly 2000 years ago? (v.20). Or do you?
