DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1. [REFLECTION] What stuck out to you in this week’s passage or sermon?

2. [SINGLENESS] A few questions here on singleness:

- What has your experience been with your culture’s understanding of singleness?

- Have you found yourself leaning into the imbalances discussed Sunday (Stigma towards singleness OR Superiority of singleness)? When?

3. [CONTENTMENT] What desires come up in relation to the gifts of singleness or marriage that can lead to discontentment? How is discontentment different from desiring a different gift (or is it)?

4. [GIFTS & THEIR PURPOSE] How can the gifts of singleness and marriage be treated and held selfishly instead of generously?

- Consider which gift you currently find yourself being given: How can it be used to serve others—both in the same circumstance and the other?

5. [CHRISTIAN LIVING] All of this discussion lands in a clear imperative: “submit your desires to the Lord.” How do we do that, practically?
